The vehicle hire company Europcar are offering discounts for rugby fans travelling to New Zealand for the British and Irish Lions tour this summer.

The company are offering 15% off car hire for the duration of the tour, which runs from June 3 to July 8.

The Lions will take on some of New Zealand’s top teams, including 2015 World Cup champions, the All Blacks.

Kicking off at the Toll Stadium in Whangarei, the tournament moves through the North Island visiting the cities of Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington as well as the Southern Island cities of Christchurch and Dunedin.

The country is also home to 13 National Parks which showcase 30,000 square kilometres of natural scenery.

Europcar say that fans looking to make the most of their time in New Zealand will be rewarded with some of the most breath-taking coastal drives in the world, and that by making the most of the discount it’s easier to explore all that New Zealand has to offer.

“As rugby fans prepare to travel the globe for the Lions tour, Europcar wants to help make their experience as fulfilling – and as cost-effective – as possible,” said Gary Smith, Managing Director of Europcar UK Group.

“New Zealand boasts some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the world and car hire from Europcar provides travellers with a quick and cost-effective solution to make the most of their time between matches.”

There are under two weeks until the Lions squad flies out to New Zealand for the tour, and Warren Gatland’s side are 7/2 outsiders to win the series, with the All Blacks firm favourites at 1/5.

New Zealand whitewashed the Lions back in 2005, and they are 10/11 to do the same this time round.

Whatever the final score, Europcar’s discount will make a potential series defeat a slightly less bitter pill to swallow.
